Polka Dots have been a friend of mine since I was very young. My love for Minnie Mouse may have subconsciously effected my style as a 2 year old, but to this day polka dots are still a classic print that can be worn for almost any occasion.
I tend to have a preference for most things black and white, partly due to Cruella DeVille as my style icon and due to the color combo’s versatility. Additionally, the joy of a button down top is that it can be worn during all seasons – especially if it’s as lightweight as mine (Wal-Mart $5!).
Whether you’re wearing a button down as your main top or as part of a layered look, you can always add an accessory that pops. On this day, it was sunny with a cool chill to the air, so layering with my mixed media jacket and this skinny scarf was an easy choice.
As I write this post, my mind has drifted to how the polka dot was named. If you’re curious to learn more about this ultra feminine print, head over to the Hairpin for an extensive overview of the history and popularity growth of the polka dot.
