When I stepped into Kohls with Christmas money in hand, I was overwhelmed by the Lauren Conrad line. I wanted everything! Here are some of my favorite pieces that have a classy, cute, vintage flair.Read More »
After seeing Mockingjay Part 1 this weekend, I am seeing all sorts of possibilities for upcoming trends. Like in the previous movies, Hunger Games and Catching Fire, the Hunger Games series manages to combine high end fashion and futuristic designs.Read More »
I apologize for the gap between posts, these past few weeks have been very productive in regards to my research and travel. I am so thankful that my department made it possible for me to travel to this year’s ITAA conference. This annual meeting of industry professionals and educators has been one to remember. It’s a time for learning about new research, updated technology in the field of textiles and design, and networking with other fashion departments in universities nationwide. Read More »

While paroosing Etsy, I stumbled across this adorable Etsy shop called OOO Workshop. Originating from Hong Kong, the OOO Workshop features all sorts of custom upcycled accessories such as earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and even a few handbags.
The shop owner, Wooo, gets inspiration from nostalgia, saying “When I was a little girl, retro toys were my friend. Now, I grow, they are my memories.” She made her first pair of earrings for a friend’s birthday and since then, her earrings have been a hit. Keep up the good work, Wooo!
Check out my favorites!
Plus, you can even get certain styles in other colors!
Products in the OOO Workshop range from $4.99 – $16.99 making this shop the ideal shopping spot for buying original gifts for the upcoming holiday.
Normally, I try my very best to avoid mostly black outfits. Not because I don’t dig the whole Wednesday Adams vibe, just because I’m pretty particular about mixing different shades of black. But today, I made an exception.Read More »
Downtown Morgantown was more than happy to welcome the new locally owned antique boutique, (so aptly called) Retrotique. The Retrotique, located on Walnut Street, sells gently used vintage goodies such as mens and womens apparel, accessories, handbags. They also have a nifty selection of retro figurines, knick knacks, and other novelty items.
I loved all the vintage patterns displayed inside the dresser drawers. I bought one and am still undecided if I want to have a go at sewing with it or if I should just frame it.
This work of art is completely made from beads. BEADS. What’s not to love about a beaded cat purse?!
Located next door to the lingerie boutique Dahlias, visitors can have a one stop shopping experience.
Love these vintage E.T. necklaces! If I were six, they would have totally freaked me out, but I’ve learned to love our little wrinkly alien friend over the years.
A Career Fair was held today at West Virginia University. Among banners and tables of employers, the University was offering professional head shot photos to be used for LinkedIn. After reading up on color psychology and professional dress, I decided on a royal blue peplum top, pearl necklace and button down black pencil skirt with kitten heels. I wanted to look professional and subtle to make a good first impression on the employers present and employers online. Here are some tips on how to impress potential employers face to face and with your online presence.Read More »
As a fashion design graduate from both West Virginia University and the Domus Academy in Milan, Angela is no stranger to the design industry. Currently specializing in product development, Angela continues her studies at WVU all while sewing on the side for fun.
Below are some featured designs from Angela’s Dream Reality collection. The goal of this collection was to inspire audiences with fantasies created through dreams. Angela Dial hopes that “When dreams become real when we embrace our reality and choose to see our world through new, imaginative eyes”.
I’m loving how practical and versatile this violet blouse is. The cowl neck and loose sleeves make it an ideal transitional piece for day and night. Plus, that fabric looks really comfortable!
When it comes to design inspiration, there’s no limit to what inspires Angela. When asked what inspires her designs, she says: “Everything. I especially like to find art, music, and people as sources of inspiration.”
I can’t wait to see more from Angela in the future!
As Halloween approaches, I find myself mentally preparing myself by reminiscing on my favorite childhood Halloween movies. Besides the obvious classics like Hocus Pocus and Halloweentown, Teen Witch holds a special place in my heart. And though my 9 year old self yearned to be just like popular sixteen year old witch Louise, my 24 year old self really appreciates everything about this movie. From the opening song, the script, the annoying little brother, and of course, the fashion.
How to be popular without Teen Witch powers: wear a tutu, peplum, anything with shoulder padding and back cutouts. And don’t forget to accessorize – big hair, big earrings, and a whole lotta of makeup.
